Digi-Chair is a combative media installation which renders a tunnel into the Digi-Verse.  My primary tactic to educate viewers about the immoral mechanics which seem to be the building blocks of the metaverse is perception.  Digi-Chair will play with viewers' perception of reality and digitality.  By placing physical and digital environments side by side in a deceptive manner, a bridge will be created between these two spaces blurring the line between reality and a simulation.  The project will possess duality, playing with realism to illustrate how alluring yet deceptive digital materiality can be.  It will do so by critically juxtaposing physical materiality, digital materiality, and impossible materiality.  As the material of the chair cycles, so does its voice.  Each chair will exude the sound of its materiality.  For example, if a chair is made out of wood, its sound will be created by using wood as an instrument to make a sonic experience.  Chairs are some of the most highly interacted with forms in our physical world; they are the epitome of objects which withhold matter.  In digital spaces, they take on an entirely new identity, for they cannot be sat on, which is their fundamental purpose.  Using an object with this capability of duality is essential for distilling my argument.  The Metaverse should be used as a space for the impossible to be a reality, rather than conjuring a fake reality.
